Sedentary Life-Style, What is it?

By at 5 April, 2009

How would you know that you are living an active life style? There can be a lot of answers to that question. On the other hand, a lot of health experts agree on the following guidelines to check if your life-style is sedentary.

You are living a sedentary life-style if you:

  • are not doing exercise or doing some rigorous activity for 30 minutes 3 times a week
  • are not going from one place to another for leisure activities
  • do not walk at least 100 yards during the day
  • almost always seated all day
  • have a job which requires no physical activity

So, are you the one whom the above criteria is referring to? If you are, you need to start doing something to ensure your health. However, you may say that you don’t have enough time to do it. You may be tired when you wake up in the morning. You may not even have ample time to fix yourself before leaving for work. You are in your workplace the entire day. And when you arrive home, you are simply very tired to do some exercise.

Perhaps you maybe among the many who started doing exercise but eventually quit because they find it really tiring at first. Others don’t want to exercise thinking that it involves rigorous activities and training.

And also, some might think that they need to spend some big amount of money on some gears and equipment to sustain their exercise regimen. While some might think that is it time consuming to go to the gym. Still, none of the above must prevent you from leading a physically active life and reaping the health benefits.
